Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Thompson Edwards

Mary Elizabeth Thompson Edwards, also known as "Gamma" was born January 26, 1926 in Huntington, New York to the late Royal Sr. and Zelda Thompson. She was the eldest daughter of 3 siblings, Royal Jr. (deceased) and Raymond. She departed this life quietly and peacefully on November 9, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. In describing Mary's legacy, one needs not think hard to find positive adjectives to illustrate her character. Mary was educated in the Huntington School System. She was employeed with Kings Park State Hospital over 25 years where she retired as a Therapist Aide. Mary married Alvin Edwards and from their union were 5 children, Setora (Bobbie), Ronald, Rodney, Anita (Neciey), and Jeffery. Mary had a love of reading novels, crocheting, and selling Avon. As her soul takes flight to the great beyond, she leaves to cherish her memory her children Setora (Kiin), Ronald, Rodney (Cynthia), Anita (minister Robert), and Jeffery (Paula); one brother Raymond Thompson; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Eileen Thompson; one god-daughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
