Obituary of Clara Corena Mayo-Booker

Clara Corena Mayo was born in Mattituck, New York on May 25, 1930 to Estelle Miles-Mayo and Alexander Mayo. Clara began her education at the age of 7 and later graduated from Riverhead High School in 1949. Clara married Raymond Lee Booker on November 17, 1951 (later divorced in 1982). Together they had three sons Lawrence Wayne, Gerald Thomas, and Mark Wilson. Clara was an OMRDD homecare provider for the state of New York since the late 70s. She had numerous positions in the area of house cleaning and childrearing which exposed her love for aiding those in need. She had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand in the church and the community. Along her journey she attended First Baptist Church (Riverhead), Holy Trinity Baptist Church (Amityville), The Kingdom Hall (Copiague), Prayer Tabernacle COGIC (Amityville), and The City of Faith COGIC (Amityville). Clara loved God and had a love for His people. She was not ashamed of the Gospel and was sure to let people know who "the Man" was. When she wasn't assisting others she enjoyed dancing, bowling, listening to music, playing cards and Chinese Checkers. She was the life of any party and was the first and sometimes the only one on the dance floor. She just loved to have fun. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; Alexander and Estelle; her brothers Sheldon, Fredrick, and Alexander Jr.; her sisters Daisy, Estelle and Carrie (Diane); and her son Gerald.
