Obituary of Mildred Elizabeth Wingfield

Born in Atlanta Georgia on November 5, 1923, to the late Claude Gary Sr. and Cynthia Lee (Cooper) Gary. She was the first born of seven children; the late Claude Gary Jr., the late Willie James Gary, the late Emery Irving Gary, the late Dorothy Mae (Gary) Johnson. She is survived by one sister Helen Louise Gary and one brother Melvin Douglas Gary. She attended the Atlanta public school system and two years at Spellman College. She later met and married the late Paul Douglas Wingfield and that union produced one daughter. In 1947 the couple relocated to New York City, where she worked in the fashion garment industry as a Sales Representative. After her husband's death in 1968 she moved to Roosevelt Long island with her family. After her career in fashion, she worked as a machine operator and later in life she became a home healthcare aide to the elderly. When she finally retired at the ripe young age of 81, she went to live with her granddaughter and her husband. Mildred's health took an unexpected turn in late February 2013 and she eventually succumbed to several overwhelming illnesses on April 3, 2013 when the Lord called her home. She is survived by: her daughter, Cynthia S. Sizemore (Robert, Sr.); three grandchildren, Crystal D. (Winters) McKay (Garnett), Robert E. Sizemore, Jr. (Takiyah) and Christopher B. Sizemore (Monique); six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Aiyah, Ricky, Kiya, Keith and Alexis; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gary, Bobbie Gary, Norma Gary, and Sylvia Gary Harper and a host of nieces, nephews and close family friends
