Obituary of Rachel Jane Webb-George

Rachel J. Webb- George, daughter of the late Richard J. Webb and the late Ruth Lang-Webb, was born in Jamaica, Queens on October 18, 1950. She had three brothers; Gary, Richard and Kenny. She graduated from Springfield Gardens High School and earned a bachelor's degree from The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). In 1969, Rachel was introduced to her future husband Carey George, Jr. by mutual friends. They were married in 1975 and from this union two children were born, Marques Yusef George and Lateef Mizel George; known to many as Markie and Deuce. Rachel worked for New York City Family Court as a Secretary for a short time then moved on to New York Transit Authority as a data processor where she retired after 25 years of service. After retiring from Transit, she worked as a Home Health Aide for many years. All the while her love of fashion and design was ever present as she was always sewing and crafting items. Rachel turned her love of fashion and design into a business with a close friend by creating clothing, beautiful party favors and decorative center pieces naming it Rachel and Kitty's Class Act. Rachel had talent and passion for sewing and she would sew anything from pillows to evening gowns. She loved making clothes for friends and family and you always knew she would have a sewing machine and a room full of party favors nearby. The first thing she would say when someone visited or called was, "Hey baby! How you be? How's your family?" If you visited her house she would say, "What can I get for you?" If you replied 'nothing', she would offer anything and everything she had until you accepted something. Rachel was an avid traveler of the world. She loved taking cruises and visiting islands and countries of the world. Rachel was very outspoken and had no problem speaking her mind. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter. Not only was she full of wit, she was extremely creative, multi-talented, altruistic, empathetic and nurturing. Rachel was definitely a mother to many and a friend to all. On January 22, 2014, God called Rachel home. She leaves to mourn her two sons: Marques George of Amityville, NY and Lateef George of Brentwood, NY; Granddaughter: Alana George of Brooklyn, NY; Three brothers: Gary Morgan of Brooklyn, NY, Richard Webb of W. Babylon, NY and Kenneth Hardy of Wheatley Heights, NY; Daughter in law: Lorelle George; Sisters in laws: Sharon George-Cancel, Murita Morgan, Luz Webb, Christine Hardy & Roslyn George; Brother in law: Dr. Timothy George of Austin, Tx; Nephews: Garrett, Gary Jr., Cornelius, Kyle & Jordan; Nieces: Kiamesha, Kathy, Marchesca, Dawn & Sierra; Grandnieces: Rayna & Savanah; Godchildren: Desiree Hull of Westbury, NY.
