Obituary of Naomi Bledman

Naomi Bledman was born December 16, 1936, in Charleston S.C. to Henry and Jennie Green. She moved to Harlem, NY. as a young girl. She was educated in the N.Y.C. Public school system. Naomi graduated from Central High School of Needle Trades. She met the love of her life, Cecil Bledman at a young age. They were married in 1956 and remained married for 57 years until her passing. Early on she was employed as a seamstress. In 1980 she started working at L.I.D.D.S.O. where she worked her way up to Supervisor and unfortunately was forced to retire for health reasons. Naomi had a very deep passion for sewing and decorating her home. This seamstress blanketed the community with her gift and eye for fashion, She did everything from upholstery to prom dresses, and even a few wedding dresses. Naomi had a kind heart and always a pleasant disposition. She was greatly loved by all of her family, relatives, friends and all who came across her path. She had a God given gift for love and kindness that stood out and would leave an impression on you that you wouldn't forget. Naomi was preceded in death by her father, Henry Green; Sisters, Loretta Adams and Ruthie Green; brother -in-laws, Herman, Benjamin and Cleveland Clarke. She leaves behind her husband, Cecil, her 3 sons, Cecil III (Diane), Cy (Chontell), Corey; and 1 daughter, Cheryl (Joseph); her mother Jennie Johnson; sister Janetta Carter (Jake); sister-in- law Laverne Flemings (Jessie) and Gurtude Clarke; brother-in-law, Larry Adams; grandchildren, Jelani, Chinara, Demetria (Ari Sr.), Cy Jr., Brandon, Jaleesa, Jacole, Janaya, Joseph Jr. (Chartarra), Jamel; and great grandchildren, Ari Jr., Niema, Emerie, Evan, Elijah, Elana, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
