Obituary of Viola Williams

Viola Williams-Buchanan was born on April 28, 1929 to the late Regina Harris and Luther Williams in Bonnett, St. Catherine in Jamaica, West Indies.She accepted the Lord at an early age. Viola went home to be with the Lordon January 13, 2015. Viola migrated to the United States in 1968. In 1969 she married Louis Buchanan. In 1972 she bought her first home in St. Albans, Queens. She lived there until illness caused her to move in with her son,J. Anthony Fenton in December of 2014. She received a certificate in Practical Infant and Geriatric Care from theMetropolitan School of Infant and Geriatric Care in 1969 and worked as aHousehold worker for a number of years. In February 1981, Viola became aUnited States Citizen. In April 1981, she successfully completed a New YorkState course to become an approved Home Attendant to provide personal care. In 1992 she began working at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, later known asBernard Fineson Development Center, where she worked in Nutrition Services.Before retiring in December of 2002, she received an award for perfectattendance from 4/10/98 to 5/30/2001 and a certificate of outstandingaccomplishments and contributions to the Center on 6/27/2001. During this time, Viola also received certificates of Appreciation for the Commitment andDedication to the children and families of St. Christopher-Ottlie in June, 2001 and May, 2002. Viola leaves loving memories to be cherished by her three children, VeronaSmall-Barrett (Elgin), J. Anthony Fenton (Winifred) and Lindley Harris; 9 grandchildren: Zaneta, Aimee, Junia, Angel, Roy, Jamara, Marcus, Elijah,and Latonia; 8 Great-grandchildren, lsaiah, Micah, Ta'shya, Derek, Jayden, Lahmi, Jahmennah, and Janiah; 1 sister, Enid Williams and a host of niecesand nephews. She also leaves behind many great friends and her church family. "God bless you Mom, you have left your footprints in the X sands of time and you will be missed.
