Obituary of Johnnie Herndon

Johnnie Herndon Sr. was born on October 7th, 1924 in Union South Carolina to Edna (Essie) Hughes. When Johnnie was in his teens, he joined the Navy and traveled the world. Once honorably discharged from the Navy, Johnnie worked for RCA for many years as a TV repairman. Once he retired from RCA, Johnnie started his own business, Protector Alarm Company, and was a successful businessman. In 1977, Johnnie moved to Amityville NY with his two young daughters, Jeanette and Michelle. Johnnie was introduced to the Truth by one of hissisters, and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. One evening at the Kingdom Hall, Lillie Jenkins dropped an earring, which Johnnie found. He asked her out on a date, and on May 13, 1978, they were married at that same Kingdom Hall. Johnnie truly loved his family, and worked tirelessly to provide for them. He had many privileges in Jehovah's service, serving as an Elder and Regular Pioneer until his health declined. He will always be remembered as a man who did best to help everyone he met, for his smile, his beautiful grey eyes, and his secret banana pudding recipe. Johnnie leaves his cherished wife of 37 years, Lillie, his children Johnnie Jr., Michael, Debora, Michelle, Jeanette, Miriam, and his step-daughter Geraldine, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and loved ones.
