Obituary of Jeffrey H. Slater

Jeffrey Slater was born on September 24, 1951, in Brooklyn NY, to his loving parents, the late Ali Mohamed and Lucille G. Freeman.His passage into eternity was 2:30 pm on Wednesday May 6th 2015 at his home. As a youngster, he and his parents migrated from Brooklyn to Long Island, New York with his 5 siblings. Jeffrey's mother remarried when he was a young man to Mr. Chesterfield Slater. In 1971 Jeffrey married Carol Stacker and of that union, came 3 children, Jeffrey, JaNele and Jason Slater. In 1976 he became engaged to Robin Frazier and they were blessed with a son, Holise Frazier. In 1982 he joined with his life's companion of 33 years, (wife) Cynthia Ferguson, and together they raised a daughter, Christal Ferguson Harding. Jeffrey graduated from North Babylon High School in 1969. After graduation he began his career in the field of Circuitry. He remained in the circuit board industry as a supervisor for over 30 years, from which he retired. In 2000 Jeff rejoined the work force as an employee for King Kullen Supermarkets. Jeffrey was known to enjoy friends and family at social gatherings. He loved bowling, reading and dancing. He was good looking, smooth, soft spoken and not one for drama or words. If you had Jeffrey as a friend, you had a real one. You could tell him anything and never worry that he would ever repeat it. A loyal friend indeed. Another word to describe Jeff was simplicity, never showy or boastful. That was Jeffrey. He leaves a legacy of unconditional love and cherished memories with Cynthia Ferguson and his 5 children. Jeffrey Slater Jr., (Christie) Christal Ferguson Harding, Holise Frazier (Merita) Janelle Slater and Jason Slater. He also leaves his 2 Sisters Doris Slater, and Karen Bacon (Richard) and his 2 brothers Valdimar Slater (Trina) and Richard Slater (Malvina) In-Laws, Thalia Lightbourne (Vincent), Monica Spurill (Joseph) & Martha Garris 11 Grandchildren, Nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. He leaves us to join his parents and 3 siblings, Milton Slater, Norman Slater and Althea Slater. (Father-in-Law) Johnnie Garris
