Obituary of Edward Richard Mimms

Edward Richard Mimms was born on May 18, 1953, in New London, Connecticut to parents, Helen Harriett Mimms (Hamilton) and Duval Henry Mimms. He attended the Amityville Public School System, ultimately receiving his high school diploma. From the early seventies until 1980, Ed worked for Poly Research in Deer Park, NY. He began working at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in the early eighties. Throughout the nineties, Ed worked for the companies, Majestic in Wyandanch, NY and Treasure Greetings in Lindenhurst, NY. In the year 2000, he began working with his sister Nancy at her business, HCD Cleaning Services, based out of Ayer, Massachusetts. Additionally, while in Massachusetts, he worked for the company, Catanian Spagna Corp., also in Ayer. Upon returning to New York, Ed worked as a gas station attendant for the Hess Corporation, and also as a taxi cab driver. He was a very hard-working man who did what he had to do to support his family. In 1977, Ed married Diane Keyes, formerly Saunders of Amityville, NY. Of this union, came two daughters, Daree Mimms-Hall and Danyelle Mimms. Ed met his long-time companion, Katrina Nottingham, in 1988. Of this union, two daughters were born: Sabrina Mimms and Karima Mimms. He also helped raise stepson, Antoine Nottingham. Ed doted on his children and grandchildren. On any given day, it would not be unusual to see him toting his girls back and forth between cheer-leading practice, gymnastics or school affairs. You name it, and he did it all. He was a good man and he will be missed dearly. Through the course of his life, Ed befriended a few individuals, who would go on to become his life-long pals. Terry "Boozer" Edwards, Charles Craddock, Peter Batts and Elaine Jonathan-Barker; Over fifty years of friendship. Ed is preceded in death by: Mother Helen Mimms; Father Duval Mimms; Brother Howard D. Mimms; Sister Harriett "Candy" Mimms-Plowden. Ed is survived by: his long time companion Trina Nottingham; Children Daree Mimms-Hall (Sean Hall), Danyelle Mimms (Andre Hawkins), Sabrina Mimms, Karima Mimms and Step-son Antoine Nottingham (Crystal Johnson). Nancy Richardson (George Richardson) of Ayer, Massachusetts, Duvall "Weenie" Mimms (Tracy) of West Babylon, NY and Brother-in-law Samuel Plowden of Brooklyn, NY.
