Obituary of Marilyn Angela Strong

Marilyn Angela Strong transition on May 5, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, New York. She was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on August 16, 1953. Marilyn received her elementary education in both the United States and Europe because her adopted father was a military career officer. Junior high school was completed at PS 231 in Springfield Gardens, Queens, NY. High school was completed at both Springfield Gardens and Malverne High School in Malverne, NY. She was an honor student throughout her school years. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY, a master's degree and an administrative certificate from CW Post in Westbury, NY. Marilyn was an educator for over 30 years, working in the Uniondale school system for six years. She then joined the Wyandanch Union Free school district in Wyandanch, NY. She eventually retired here on June 25th, 2015. Marilyn's extracurricular activities included many years serving as the vice president of the Wyandanch Teacher's Union Association at the Wyandanch Union Free School district- tutoring and mentoring students including their families, co-workers and friends. Education was her top priority as well as reading her bible. In fact, during her teenage years, Marilyn slept with her bible. Marilyn was also a professionally trained dancer. She loved her class recitals each year because she could use dancing skills to create unique techniques for her students. She also loved coordinating the teachers breakfast at school and in her spare time enjoyed eating out with her family, friends and co-workers. Massapequa Full Gospel Tabernacle has been Marilyn's church for many years, under the watchful eyes of Pastor Gene Profeta. Her Christian work was greatly enhanced through the fellowship and her relationship with her Lord. Marilyn, who was very family-oriented, was preceded in death by her adopted father Leroy Strong and her brother Ronnie Strong. She leaves to mourn, her mother Mrs. Louise Kelly, step-father Elder Dallas Kelly, two step-brothers- Adolphus Kelly (Durham, NC), Rufus Kelly (Anne) Leigh Acres (Florida), one aunt Hellen Marrissa Stroman (New York, NY). Her biological father Andrew Womack (Gloria), two sisters Robin Womack-McLaughlin (Lance), Roslyn Womack. One brother Andrew Womack Jr. One niece, two nephews and a host of family members, friends and acquaintances. Special thanks to Nazir Choudhary (Maryam), Yasir, Amar, Waqas, Waqar, Auzam and Rabiya.
