Obituary of Angela A. Crawford
Angela Denise Crawford was born on April 13, 1966 in Memphis, Tennessee to
Amos Lawrence and Bessie (Crawford) Lawrence. The oldest of five children.
Angela, affectionately, known to all as Angie, grew up in Westbury, NY until
the age of 16. In 1982, the family relocated to Wyandanch, NY, where her parents still
maintain the family home. In her younger years, Angie, also enjoyed a school year and
several memorable summers with her paternal family members in Lowndes County,
Alabama.
All who were blessed to have Angie as a part of their life, knew unconditional
and genuine love. She may not have thought she had much to give, as far as material gifts,
but what she did have to offer was PURE LOVE. Angie's family meant the world to her. Her
lifes motto and devotion, truly reflected the phrase, Family Over Everything! The love she
shared with each family member was a special, tailor-fitted, and unique bond. On birthdays,
holidays and special occasions, you were guaranteed to receive a phone call, greeting card or
both from Angie. The family looked forward to her energy and excitement for those special
celebrations. If you were not available, you better believe, Angie would be calling back, as
her "celebration mission" was incomplete, until she spoke to you! With all of the love she had
for her family, one may not know that she didn't have children of her own, because of how she
beamed with pride for her nieces and nephews. They were her kids, her babies. She loved
them with all her heart.
Angie, was one of our greatest strengths and protectors of our family. Over
the years, as the Lawrence family blossomed, grew, and many relocated to various states,
she remained in New York, as a foundation and supportive pillar for our parents and
our homebase. Always available, always contributing with her presence. She proudly
encouraged, cheered and lifted her family. Angie contributed her specific strengths and
support to the family, enabling the entire family legacy, to grow and reap the benefits.
Conversations with Angie were always entertaining and memorable. Life lessons provided
her with the wisdom and heart to share, in only the unique way Angie could. We will
always remember her voice, and her ranges from extreme animated descriptions to overly
dramatic explanations. Her phrases, greetings and cliches were a guaranteed part of that
conversation. "Quiet as its kept", "I know that's right!", "All the tea in China", "Hey darling",
"Cross the T's, dot the I's, and pet the dog!", and many more. We will always cherish how that
smile, that laugh and her funny stories, would brighten your day.
With her strength, her determination, and the overflowing love from family, Angie overcame
most of her life's trials and tribulations. It made her even more compassionate, appreciative,
and supportive. She became an inspiration to others with similar challenges. As with
many of us, she was still a work in progress, but she believed in her Lord and Savior, and
the strength HE would provide to overcome her struggles. Angie has always maintained her
personal relationship and love for the Lord. She began attending Perfecting Faith Church in
Freeport, NY, with Pastor Donnie McClurklin in 2014, and became a member in 2015.
Angela was preceded in death by: her maternal grandmother Carrie Crawford; her
paternal grandmother Alice Moore and her aunt Gloria Moore.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her parents Amos and Bessie Lawrence; her
two brothers Eric (Lafonia) Lawrence and Alando (T'myka) Lawrence; two sisters Tanya
(Ronald) Dials and Starie Lawrence; nieces and nephews Tanise, Gelissa, Preston, Dante,

Alando lll, Elysia, Makaila, Ronell, Emmanuel, T'nae, Gabrielle and Noelle; one great-niece
Kaliyah; three great nephews Jayden, Trey, and TJ; three aunts Wanda Moore, Alma (Sears)
Carnes and Debra (Peter) Moore; three uncles Leroy Crawford, Moses Moore and Rembert
Moore; loving cousins; a special friend Mr. K Carter; as well as, a host friends.
We are given this gift of life, to figure out, explore and lovingly impact lives. We
were not ready for Angie to receive her wings, but God has said that her seeds have been
planted, good deeds have been done and we (family and loved ones) believe that He is
pleased. She departed this life on Saturday March 25, 2017, at her home in Amityville, NY.
Angie is at peace, and her soul is at rest. She is loved by us all, in our hearts forever and will
be missed beyond measure.
