Obituary of Emma L. Morant

Emma Lorraine Morant, born Emma Lorraine Jennings entered this world on June 28, 1961, to Carrie Smith and the late Charles Jennings. She attended and graduated from Copiague High School in Copiague, NY. Afterwords she attended Farmingdale State College for nursing. Emma also known as Em, Ping, Handy, Veet, and Aunt Em worked for many years as a Nurses Aide until she was promoted to a Specialist in the Medical Records Department at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Bethpage until she could work no more. Em had three loves in her life, first and foremost was her love for the Lord, which she confessed at an early age in St. Johns Baptist Church in Copiague; her son Keith Michael Hendricks who was born in March of 1984, and her husband Allen Morant Jr. (Jr.). Anyone that knows Em knows her radiant smile that never left her face and that she was a person who never said "NO"! She was known for her love for all children, pleasant nature and attitude, and for having a green thumb. Emma wore many hats and she did it with pleasure. She organized the churches Youth Group, in which she took not only the church's youth but the community's youth on different outings such as roller skating, bowling, Build-a-Bear, she had nights where the youths could come and just talk about daily life without the pressure of being judged or talked about. Every summer she ran Vacation Bible School and she made sure the youth had something to do every holiday, whether it be an Easter egg hunt, a Christmas movie or wrapping and donating Christmas presents to the Angel Tree Ministry. She was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, a former member of the Usher's Board, Intake Coordinator for the Food Pantry, and all while being the pastor's secretary. She always helped where she could and whenever she could. Emma loved the Lord and there was no question about that. She sang, she cried, and she cried out all in the name of our Lord and Savior. She was a servant of the Lord serving on the Deaconess board and in 2017 she received and answered her "call" to preach. On July 30, 2017, she preached her trial sermon and on December 17, 2017 she became an ordained minister becoming Reverend Emma L. Morant. She had the greatest love for her husband, kids, grandkids, and her family. She had a way of making each and everyone feel special in their own way no matter how big or small, whether family or stranger, she had a way of making you feel like family. Emma was more than a mother, daughter, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, Godmother and friend. She was an angel and on Monday, September 13, 2021, God saw fit to call his earthly angel home to her heavenly reward. Emma leaves to carry on her legacy, husband Allen Morant Jr. of Copiague, NY; son Keith Hendricks (Gloria) of Mechanicsville, Pennsylvania; stepson Allen Morant III of Pennsylvania; stepdaughter Tanisha Morant of West Babylon, NY; mother Carrie Smith and stepfather Robert Smith (who preceded her in death) of Amityville, NY; brother Thomas Jennings of Copiague, NY; sister Mary Squires (who preceded her in death) (Andy) of Charlotte, NC, and Carolyn Smith (Willie Freeman) of Amityville, NY; sisters-in-law Gloria Morant of Huntington, NY and Sherry Morant of North Carolina; brother-in-law Robert (Bobby) Morant of Amityville, NY; grandchildren Christina Cross, Keith Jr. Malachi, and Levi Hendricks all of Pennsylvania; Asiyah of Wyandanch, NY; aunt Deloris Bowman of Rego Park, NY; sisters in Christ, Rev. Alean Carter and Rev. Regina Donagan; her special "Roomie", close friend and former armor bearer Rev. Cynthia Jackson; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives.
