Obituary of Vicky Booker

Vicky Michelle Booker was born on February 22, 1956 to the late Chadwick and Mary Booker. She was their youngest child. Her elementary and secondary education was in the Wyandanch Public Schools. She completed her post secondary education at Fordham University, Bronx, New York with a degree in Economics. Vicky continued her education at New York University (NYU) and earned a Professional Diploma in Human Resource Management. Her employment began with Emigrant Savings Bank where she developed effective recruitment strategies and was lead representative at unemployment hearings for the bank. At Montifiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY, she was responsible for recruitment and placement of qualified candidates in administrative and clerical support positions. Employment with the New York State Credit Union League and Affiliates involved assisting credit unions in the NYC-Long Island area with financial analysis, policies and procedures, operational issues and strategic planning. While employed by Geritrex Corporation in Mount Vernon, NY, her first responsibility was producing monthly sales and marketing analysis. She was soon promoted to Contract Manager where she handled all contract matters with national wholesalers, state agencies and the federal government including the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and Department of Defense. At each place of employment Vicky was regarded highly and made lifelong friends. She received recognition for her dedication to her responsibilities. Vicky usually attended religious services at Parkchester Baptist Church but also worshipped at The Church of the Master in Harlem and Holy Trinity Baptist Church when visiting family on Long Island. Always conscious about giving back to her community, Vicky was committed toFriends of Brookville Park in Queens, PEP Senior Service in the Bronx and St. Peter’s Food Pantry in Manhattan. Vicky loved to attend Off Broadway and on Broadway shows. She enjoyed attending concerts and programs especially at the Schomburg Center and Carnegie Hall. Spending time with family and her sister-friends always brought her so much joy. She was a voracious reader of fiction and non-fiction books. Vicky served as secretary and treasurer of the Stewardship Investment Club. She was a charter member of the NAUW (National Association of University Women) Metropolitan New York Branch. She served as recording secretary and chair of the Scholarship Committee. She was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation for dedication, commitment and service to this branch in 2019. She was also awarded a Certificate of Recognition from the Harlem Council of Presbyterian Churches in 2019. Vicky was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Michael Booker, Chadwick Booker, Carl Booker and Ronnie (Samuel) Booker. She leaves to celebrate her life, her brother Kevin Booker (Kitty), sister Wendy Green (James), sisters-in-law Julia VanEyken, Amityville, Lucille Booker, Palmdale, CA, Roslyn Holder, Copiague. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews across the United States. Also the Wyandanch Warriors Class of 1974 and many, many sisterfriends.
