Obituary of Jesse Edmonds
Jesse Edmonds, son of the late Simon and LizzieWilliams Edmonds, was born on October 14, 1927 in Littleton, North Carolina and departed this earthly life in the early morning on Saturday, July 29, 2016 at his home in North Babylon, New York. He is the brother of eight siblings: Mary,
Alice and predeceased by Willis, Isaac, Thomas, Ivor, Roger , and Lucy. He is the father of five children: Sherry (predeceased), James, Jesse Jr., Dexter, and Clayton.
Jesse received an honorable discharge from the UnitedStates Army and was awarded the American Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory medal. He was blessed to share his
life with Shirley Washington for over 45 years. He retired as a dedicated truck mechanic. With his tremendous skills as a mechanic he was well-known as " a man who could fix anything." Jesse was the go-to person and multitalented in repairing anything. If it could be fixed, Jesse would figure it out with determination and precision. His favorite hobby on the weekends was fishing and he also enjoyed bowling and swimming. As an avid fisherman, he loved to fry fish and was generous for all to enjoy. Neighbors called him our "fishman." Jesse was kind with a big heart and a soft smile. His gentle, sweet spirit was evident of his belief in Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He is mourned by his children and leaves to cherish his memory, Shirley Washington and her children, Brenda, Craig, Debra, Yolanda, Valarie and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren who all called him "Papa Jesse"; extended family, relatives and friends.
